She has over 25 years of experience and a distinguished career as a C-suite executive. In those years, she has guided large-scale utility operations, regulatory affairs and policy initiatives. Her work has earned recognition from peers and policymakers as a key voice in the industry. Her extensive knowledge of Canada’s electricity and natural gas sectors makes her a trusted advisor. Throughout her career, Melanie has driven operational and financial excellence. She led Alberta’s largest electric utility to top-quartile performance while reducing consumer rates and enhancing engagement. Elected by her peers as Chair of Electricity Canada, she spearheaded industry-wide efforts on federal energy policy and regulatory reform. She has extensive expertise in rate cases, performance-based utility rate making, regulatory compliance, negotiations, and policy testimony, which has played a pivotal role in shaping the industry framework and building collaboration.
Melanie is committed to fostering Indigenous partnerships and advancing innovative energy projects within complex policy frameworks. She has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta and executive development training from the Ivey School of Business at Western University.
